Our

Environment

Our property encompasses 12 acres with a rolling hill into the valley where a babling brook flows throughout the year. There is plenty of wooded area as well where we get our wood from. We have red and white Oak, Pine, Spruce and of course Eastern Red Cedar. You can find lady slippers and a field of clover. We have grape vines and both blue and blackberries.

We compost, raise earthworms and soon will add meal worms and maggots to feed the flock. We use the land wisely.

We have spent some time in 2015 to clear back the overgrowth down by the brook to make that look really nice again.

Our Animals

Ah the kids, they were such a joy. Midnight Red, our resident Queen was a devil. She loved to get into everything. And our boy, Tequila Sunrise was just the sweetest thing. One day though, he did find his way into the aquaponics greenhouse, the nut. They parented our little Red Clover. She's lost her redness but is beautiful just the same. Mom and Dad have gone on to a higher plain but she keeps the ancestry going.

Then we have our chickens. We started with 6 Rhode Island hens. They are all gone now but we have 6 . They are laying now. We incubated and hatched 8 chickens which are now just starting to lay. Our daughter Denyell has taken over the chicken duties. And last but not least we have Macon Bacon, our pork chop pig. She is just a big, fat link of a sweetheart. Our newest piglet is Hammy the Hambone. He is a Kune Kune pig from Australia. Then there is Bandit our Husky dog.
