Our Family Story & Heritage

In or around 1918 a couple named Jeda and Bobi Sindelar came to America to find a new life. They settled in the Town of East Haddam, CT in the area known as ValleyBrook. They worked the land for many years, raised eight children and lived a hard but a good life.

In the 1960's the farm was revamped. The barn was repaired, extended, a new roof was added and my dad, mom and I continued "The Old Sindelar Farm" with registered Jersey cows. I actually raised a GreatGrandDaughter of ELSIE the Borden cow. She was the famous cow on the milk containers for many years. We had three cows that we primarily kept for milk and making cheesecake. My mom loved cheesecake. I use to show the cows off at the fairs and won many ribbons including Grand Champion, Breeding Champion and Milking Champion. Daisy and Clover will always be in my heart.

We shut the farm down in 1973 when the cows were sold at the Ohio State Fair. We missed the life but but we wanted to take a different direction in life.

Enter 2015..... I wanted to give my children a taste of my upbringing and decided to start the old farm up again so after starting slowly, first with an aquaponic garden then with some chickens, a pig and our last additions, Midnight Red and Tequila Sunrise have birthed a heifer named Miss Red Clover and have gone on to a higher plain. We hope to soon bring back the Jersey line.

2017 we put up a hoop house for the chickens. One soon for an indoor garden. It promises to be a good year.

What we Believe

First and foremost we believe in treating people as ourselves would like to be treated. That being said we believe in a clean environment, no chemicals, non GMO. We are now feeding the cows soy/GMO free feed. I have lived on the property all my life and know that the land is free and clear of chemicals. We believe in adding vital minerals to our gardens to boost the nutrient content and we use as much rain water as we can.

Why Organic

  • It is safer.

  • It tastes better.

  • It is better for the environment.

  • It is generally more nutritious.

  • I.

  • I.
